Improve on your listening skill

You cannot develop your people skills without consciously working on your listening skills. It is essential to a leadership that is responsive, attentive and empathetic. You can sharpen your listening skills by:
*being fully in the moment when one is talking. When one is talking pay attention to both their words, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language. Practice active listening by focusing totally as if you are going to write an exam on what the speaker is saying. Show that you are listening. Use your own body language and gestures to show that you are listening.
Conclusively, you can sharpen your people's skills to help you maintain relationships, build new ones and further your career. Do not forget, emotional intelligence and self awareness are necessary tools to cope in the world we live in. Note also that in order to flow with people well, you need to flow with yourself first, understand your emotions and keep them balanced.
Furthermore, you also need to respect and be aware of other people's culture. When dealing with people expect some misunderstandings and be prepared to handle it positively.
Finally, maintain healthy relationship s as this helps to boost your confidence and make your life more rewarding. Respect yourself so you can respect others, note the important people in your life, have the right attitude , having  a sense of humour and not taking yourself too seriously. Go ahead and take practical steps to develop your people skills.

Building up your soft skills

USING HUMOUR ( LAUGHTER AND PLAY)
You can use humor to build and maintain successful relationships. Over the time we have been told that  laughter is the best medicine. This is because laughter relieves tension and stress, it  elevates mood, enhances creativity and boosts energy. You can learn to use this tool ,humour, to build or strengthen your relationship with people. Another truth is that laughter is contagious, just hearing someone laugh primes you to a smile.
Conflict is an inevitable part of all relationship. How you manage conflicts can determine how successful your relationship can be. Humour when used skillfully and respectfully can quickly turn conflict and tension into an opportunity for shared fun and intimacy. You need to develop an effective use of this tool  and while using it ,be sensitive to the other person.

How to build up your soft skills

A lot of people have written books and articles about this subject matter, but the fact remains that no matter how many books you read,if you don't put up a practical or conscious effort to build yourself up, it will just end up as added knowledge without impact on you. So to stand out in life .you need to :
     1. Connect with people
      2. Learn good listening skills
      3. Study and use body language
      4. Learn to recognise and manage stress
       5. Manage your energy
       6. Use humour
       7. Be kind to yourself
These skills are skills that will put you in a valuable position in your school, office, business, family, community, place of worship and everywhere you find yourself.
๐Ÿ˜€managing your energy : this is all about how you balance hard work with rest and play. All work and no play makes jack a dull boy. To effectively manage your energy , SCHEDULE IT.   Schedule fun or relaxation activities in advance and stick to them. To be effective on this, you can enlist family and friends to help you unplug.
Manage your energy so you can manage your time. These days, there are just too much work to do in one day that sometimes  a lot of people end up exhausted with half finished tasks.
The problem lies in how to keep our energy level high to ensure that you finish at least one of your most important tasks for the day. And the fact remains that what we need is more than time management , we need energy management as well. Discover you high-energy hours , your body clock and then prioritise your task. That way you will become more productive.
๐Ÿ˜ข study body languages : know that reading body language is a complex task. As people  are complex so are their nonverbal behaviour. To be able to read a person's body language accurately you may need to study that person for sometime. This is because there is no general rule here . some people when lying , break their eye contact while others try to maintain more eye contact than usual ,when lying. Body language can also differ according to culture,  in some culture, a lowered posture may indicate submission while in some culture it may be a sign or invitation for wrestling.
However, it is important to understand body language when relating to people  such as facial expression. You can actually develop your ability to accurately interpret happiness, contentment, excitement, anger, sadness, fear, disgust , etc
๐Ÿ˜ฃ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ˆyou can comment on any point that doesn't go well with you.

Leadership skills: developing your soft skills

The need and importance of having solid people sills, also known as soft skills cannot be overemphasized. If you aspire to be a leader with an impact, you need a well formed or developed soft skills as much technical skills to succeed. What are these soft skills?
*Ability to relate to others
*strong communication skills
*patience with others
*the ability to trust others
* Knowing how and when to trust others

So how developed is your soft skills?
The list is inexhaustible. The fact remains that you need to have a thriving relationship with people ,if you must make positive impact as a leader.
People do not only need effective soft skills only in their jobs or businesses, but also in their lives and social circles.
People who have wonderful or developed soft skills are often people who are good team players. They are people who remain calm and effective under pressure, people who act with grace in stressful situations. People who listen well ,admit mistakes and learn from them; respond well to criticism and of course , who show high self and situational awareness. You must not forget that people who have these skills well developed are said to have emotional intelligence and those who lack them are said to have personality issues.
Take note therefore that no one was born with high people skills. The people who have these skills built and developed them by themselves. People skills are not natural, they are built or developed consciously.

Money pots in the agro sector

While many Nigerians are seeking white collar jobs, smart Nigerian graduates are making fortunes from their farm's 'money pots'. My recent research has shown that young Nigerians both male and females are making it in agriculture via resilience and tenacity.
Here are some suggestions to help you in case you are thinking alongside becoming an entrepreneur: Running a farm shop( retail outlet )
You can actually involve yourself in selling fresh eggs from your home, fresh  vegetables from your backyard or out source or supplying some fruit vegetables in your neighbouring. If you are a work from home mom, (housewife) you can actually start your farm fresh shop right from your home.you can start your farm shop in a unique and creative way. I will be discussing this topic in my next blog.
If you are an unemployed graduate or undergraduate residing in Nigeria, I like you to know that you can actually make money for yourself or float your own company. All you need to do is position yourself to becoming an agro business woman or man.            Follow these simple steps and  start making money in the agricultural sector.
Step 1: observe the agro produce in season in the zone where you are.e.g in the northern zone  ,melon(egwusi)and groundnuts are in season.
Step 2 : raise some money to buy some quantities of the produce. You can start with any amount you can afford. And then preserve these produce very well.
Step 3 : sell off these produce in the next three months and see the profit you will make ! Unbelievable!
What you have done is called processing and storage in agri business. People who have no start up capital are coming together as cooperative society to start this business. You can make as much as five hundred thousand naira in agricultural storage business in Nigeria. Its up to you to make a difference in your finances. If you have any challenge in starting this business write me for advice or direction.
